FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A former children’s hospital nurse is set to become a federal inmate after a judge sentenced him to spend a decade behind bars following a guilty plea to two attempted child enticement charges.

Thirty-five-year-old Rami Rotlewicz, who worked at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood before his arrest, learned his fate in Fort Lauderdale federal court on Friday.
Federal agents arrested Rotlewicz, then 34, in June following a raid at his Plantation home the month prior.
Prosecutors alleged that Rotlewicz began communicating online with undercover agents posing as mothers — seeking to sexually abuse their daughters — in 2023.
They said he first chatted online with an agent posing as the foster mother of an 11-year-old girl, then with an investigator posing as the girl herself and discussed flying the two to Fort Lauderdale.
Authorities said he then chatted with a third investigator posing as the Miami foster mother of a 12-year-old girl.
They said Rotlewicz and that investigator planned a May 2 meeting, but he rescheduled. Six days later, authorities raided his home at 501 NW 108th Ave.
Authorities said he waived his Miranda rights and “admitted to communicating” with the undercover investigators. According to the complaint, he “described to law enforcement how he has a vivid imagination” and said the chats were “fantasy.”
Court documents stated a search of Rotlewicz’s cellphone revealed 219 images and 85 videos depicting boys and girls being raped or otherwise sexually abused.
Federal child pornography charges, however, were dropped as part of his plea agreement.
Following his arrest last summer, a Joe DiMaggio spokesperson called the allegations “deeply disturbing,” but said there was “no evidence to suggest that any illegal activities occurred at our hospital.”
According to sentencing documents, Rotlewicz pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor and will serve 10 years on each count concurrently.
Once out of prison, he’ll spend another decade on supervised release. He’ll be required to register as a sex offender, undergo treatment and be restricted from having contact with minors, using a computer, or possessing pornography of any kind.
Those documents state he will be placed in a facility at Federal Correctional Complex, Coleman, in Sumter County.
As of Monday, he was being held in the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach, BSO records show.
