NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Linda Souvenir is grieving after her one-year-old grandson saw her 27-year-old son’s murder at a Walgreens on Monday in Miramar.
On a GoFundMe page, she said she has pancreatic cancer and described her son Anthony Souvenir as an amazing father with a big heart. She said he was thoughtful, respectful, and loving.
“I remember talking to him and how excited he was for the future. He wanted his son to play football and other sports,” she said adding that it’s heartbreaking that “he will never get a chance to see his son become the great man that he wanted him to be.”
Detectives arrested Jaime Taylor on Tuesday for the murder in the store at Miramar Boulevard and Palm Avenue. Souvenir was also with his girlfriend.
According to the arrest report, the shooting stemmed from a misunderstanding. Souvenir allegedly told Taylor, 28, he was “looking too hard.”
According to the report, Taylor was on the phone talking to someone else, there was an argument, and Souvenir’s girlfriend called 911 for help.
Both men were armed, but Taylor fired first, and Souvenir tried to give chase but collapsed in the store and later died in the hospital, according to the report.
“We are broken; we are hurting,” Souvenir’s mother said. “I hurt every day.”
Broward Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies were holding Taylor without bond for murder.
