The suspect, Jarvis Larell Smith, 29, and the 32-year-old victim are not known to each other, an arrest report stated.

According to the report, the victim told police that she and her roommates first saw Smith entering their home around 1 p.m. Monday and yelled at him to leave.

She said he complied and they didn’t call police.

But the victim said Smith then returned about a half hour later as she was laying in her bed, watching Netflix while only in her underwear.

According to the report, the woman felt Smith grabbing her from behind and a struggle ensued.

Police said Smith tried to rape the victim, but she screamed and continued to resist.

Smith struck the victim on her forehead, causing an abrasion, before the victim was able to push him off of her, authorities said.

According to the report, one of the victim’s roommates came out of his room to see why the victim was screaming and then escorted her out of the home through the rear entrance and called police.

The victim refused to be evaluated by Miami Fire Rescue personnel who also responded, the report stated.

According to the report, Smith was still inside the home when officers arrived and he was taken into custody.

Police said he admitted to entering the home, but denied breaking the door frame.

According to the report, Smith claimed he only entered the home because he saw a damaged vehicle outside and wanted to check whether everyone was OK.

Police said Smith denied ever removing his clothes except for when he was in the bathroom and admitted to drinking alcohol the previous night.

Smith faces charges of burglary with assault or battery, burglary of an occupied dwelling, attempted sexual battery and indecent exposure.

As of Tuesday afternoon, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his total bond had yet to be set.
