Investigation ongoing after deputy-involved shooting in Lauderhill

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A deputy-involved shooting in Broward County is under investigation.

It happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday along the 4100 block of Northwest 21st Street in Lauderhill.

Broward Sheriff Office deputies and Lauderhill police officers were all at the scene late into the evening, appearing to focus on a two story apartment building.

Authorities said the shooting occurred “during a proactive joint law-enforcement investigation involving BSO and Lauderhill Police.”

The law enforcement officers and deputies were approached by two armed men, authorities said, which led to an apparent altercation in which a Lauderhill officer and BSO deputy opened fire.

One person was struck by gunfire and rushed to Broward Health Medical Condition in an unknown condition.

Multiple firearms were recovered at the scene, deputies said.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting.
