Boy nearly drowns in Dania Beach pool marking 4th incident in Broward in just over a week

DANIA BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A boy was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after nearly drowning in a Dania Beach pool, marking the fourth such incident in Broward County in just over a week, authorities said.

Broward County Regional Communications received a call about a possible drowning just before 2 p.m. at a community pool near the 30th block of Northwest 14th Street.

6 p.m. report:

Broward Sheriffā€™s Office deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel responded and said they found a boy who had been pulled from the water.

Deputies provided medical treatment before paramedics transported the child to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, according to investigators.

Authorities said the boy was conscious and breathing while being transported to the hospital.

His age or identity has not been released at this time.

BSOā€™s Special Victims Unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident.

This marks the fourth near-drowning case in Broward County in the last eight days.

Another boy is recovering after police say he was ā€œfound unresponsiveā€ on Friday in a community pool in Lauderhill.

On Wednesday, a toddler was found unresponsive in a Dania Beach pool but was rescued in time.

Last Friday, a 4-year-old in Wilton Manors was also found unresponsive in a backyard pool. First responders revived the child with CPR before rushing them to the hospital.

Authorities are reminding parents and caregivers to remain vigilant around water, emphasizing the importance of pool safety measures.
