According to witnesses, there were two street fistfights before the shooting shortly before 7:30 p.m., near Northwest Eighth Avenue and 15th Street.

It’s unclear if the fight that happened earlier in the afternoon was related. A witness shared a video showing witnesses gathering around two people hitting each other.

Emmanuel Auguste, who lives in the area, said several “young men” intervened in the night street fight before one of them retrieved a gun from a truck and opened fire.

“Everybody started taking off running,” Auguste said Tuesday.

Witnesses said they heard rapid gunfire. There was a vehicle with a shattered window.

Fort Lauderdale police searched home to home and used a police dog, but no arrests had been made as of Tuesday evening.

Detectives continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
