OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – Residents and visitors in Opa-locka and Miami Gardens are demanding answers after officials said a water main break left many without running water on Wednesday.

According to Opa-locka city officials, a contractor installing a stormwater management system at a new senior living facility accidentally struck and ruptured a 12-inch water main around 10 a.m.
Authorities said the age of the infrastructure made it difficult to source the necessary repair parts, delaying the restoration process.
City officials say they have now secured the required parts and expect repairs to be completed by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
In a joint statement, the cities of Opa-Locka and Miami Gardens apologized for the inconvenience and assured residents they are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
As of Wednesday night, some residents and visitors remained frustrated, unsure of when their water would be fully restored and safe to use.
Officials have not disclosed how many homes were affected.
