According to an arrest report, Nicholas James Sonet faces 15 counts of possession of the sexual performance by a child and two counts of attempting to promote the sexual performance of a child.
The report states that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received cyber tips in September and October of 2023 indicating that someone was utilizing an internet-based app to possess child pornography.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation revealed that the app user was in possession of child pornography and also promoted/distributed it.
According to the arrest report, detectives eventually identified Sonet as the app user and said videos found in his possession appeared to show girls as young as 2 to 4 years old being raped.
Detectives said he was taken into custody after they executed a search warrant at his home.
During a search of his cellphone, detectives found he engaged in multiple chats, “vocalizing his desire to adopt a ‘little girl’ for his sexual desires. He also stated throughout these chats that he wished to impregnate who he believed to be a 13-year-old female,” the report stated.
“It should be noted that there were hundreds of other media files containing child pornography located throughout multiple applications within his cellular device,” the report continued.
According to MDSO, Sonet declined to speak with detectives.
As of Friday, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond had yet to be set.
