Kagean Lamar Allen, 37, is accused of fatally shooting Rodney Daniels just before 7:30 p.m. outside the Five Star Market at 16012 NW 27th Ave., according to police.
Miami Gardens police said officers responded to the scene and found Daniels lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported him to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he later died, according to investigators.
Police said surveillance footage from the store showed Allen arriving on a black electric scooter and speaking with a group of men before pulling out a gun and shooting Daniels multiple times while he was sitting on the ground.
The video also showed Allen walking away before returning to fire additional shots while standing over the victim, according to the report.
The report stated that a 15-year employee of Five Star Market told police he recognized Allen as a regular customer from the area.
Investigators said they used video evidence, witness statements and social media posts to identify Allen.
Police said Allen was arrested Wednesday after officers saw him leaving his home on an electric scooter.
They also recovered a 9mm handgun from his waistband, which was later linked to shell casings from the crime scene, the report stated.
Police said a search of Allen’s home uncovered clothing matching what he wore during the shooting. Authorities confirmed that he had since shaved his head and facial hair.
Jail records show he is facing one count of second degree murder and is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time.
