DAVIE, Fla. – A number of police officers responded to the scene of a crash in Davie Monday morning that involved a Fort Lauderdale police vehicle and a stolen vehicle, authorities confirmed.
It happened around 2:15 a.m. in the area of Orange Drive and South State Road 7.
Crime scene tape surrounded the area after the crash and utility workers were spotted at the scene. It appeared that one of the vehicles may have crashed into a utility box.
According to Davie police, Fort Lauderdale police were investigating a case involving a stolen vehicle when an FLPD vehicle and the stolen car collided at the intersection in Davie.
A police officer was transported to Broward Health Medical Center and four people inside the stolen vehicle were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital.
Davie Fire Rescue officials said the injuries varied in severity, but police confirmed that all injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening.
State Road 7 was temporarily closed from You-Pull to Orange Drive due to the investigation. The traffic lights at the intersection were also disabled due to the collision.
Police said the investigation into the stolen vehicle will continue to be handled by FLPD while Davie police will investigate the crash.
The identities of those involved in the collision have not been released.
