2 people hospitalized following machete attack in Pembroke Pines

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Two people were injured after a machete attack on Monday afternoon in Broward County.

It happened in the area of Southwest 190th Avenue and 15th Street inside the Encantada community in Pembroke Pines.

Both victims, a man and a woman, were seriously injured and rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital, including one by helicopter, police said.

According to police, the male victim was a service worker who was conducting repairs outside a home when he was attacked.

Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Darrel Dean Roberts, who they said lived inside the home that was being serviced.

Authorities have not provided any information on what led up the attack or on the second victim.

Police charged Roberts with attempted homicide and took him into custody.
