CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A 15-year-old girl was arrested for grand theft auto after Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a stolen car Monday morning, authorities confirmed Tuesday.
Deputies with BSO’s Deerfield Beach district said they conducted a felony traffic stop shortly before 8 a.m. near the Sawgrass Expressway and North University Drive in Coral Springs.
Authorities said the teenage driver was detained at the scene and the car was recovered.
Cellphone video sent by Local 10 News viewer Gary Ritkes showed the moment the teenager exited the stolen car with both hands in the air before being detained. Her identity wasn’t immediately released.
Detectives from BSO’s Pompano Beach district, where the car was reported stolen on Saturday, investigated the case, leading to the teenager’s arrest.
No other details about the incident have been disclosed at this time.
