According to an arrest report, the shooting occurred Friday and Jorge Omar Torres, 29, was booked into jail early Saturday morning.

Sunrise police said they were called to the home just after 5:30 p.m. Friday after receiving reports about a shooting and a naked male running in and out of the rear door of the apartment.

According to the report, police made contact with Torres’ brother outside who told them that he believes Torres had just shot their mother.

Officers then observed blood coming from underneath the front door of the home and forced their way inside the locked door before finding the victim dead on the floor just inside of the door.

According to the report, Torres was found naked in the backyard of a nearby apartment and a gun was found in the rear yard of Torres’ apartment.

Police said Torres, who lived at the apartment with his mother, father and brother, spoke with a detective and said he had purchased 8 grams of mushrooms in Davie before driving to Markham Park where he ingested 2 grams of the drugs and smoked a marijuana cigarette.

Police said Torres then drove home and claimed that he began to hallucinate.

He claimed that he told his brother that he needed to kill the cockroaches that were outside, and also said that his brother looked like a lizard and cockroach, authorities said.

According to the report, Torres told the detective that he called his mother and told her how he was feeling and told her not to come home.

Police said Torres claimed that he then grabbed his gun and pointed it as his brother who was on his computer at the kitchen table and thought about killing him because he “felt his brother was a bad guy.”

Police said Torres ultimately decided against shooting his brother.

According to the report, Torres then began to argue about his well-being with his mother when she arrived home and she told him to go to his room and lay down.

Police said Torres told them that he needed to get his dog to safety so he climbed out of his window naked, and placed his dog in his SUV.

He said his mother then sent his brother outside to get the dog.

According to the report, Torres confessed to then shooting his mother in the chest until she collapsed, thinking that she was now the “bad guy.”

He said he shot between three and six rounds at her, authorities said.

According to the report, Torres’ brother said he was outside looking for the dog when he heard his mother screaming and then heard about three gunshots coming from inside the apartment.

Police said Torres fled through the rear door.

His brother told police that the front door was locked, but a short time later he spotted Torres hiding by a red vehicle.

He said Torres called him a cockroach and then ran off, hopping a nearby fence, according to the report.

Torres was arrested on a premediated murder charge.

As of Thursday, he was being held at the Broward Main Jail without bond.
