Suspect arrested in case of 3-year-old killed by stray bullet after Fort Lauderdale drive-by

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police have made an arrest after a young boy was shot and killed during a birthday party.

Behind bars is 20-year-old Tyler Tyrone Hollins.

Hollins was indicted by a grand jury last week and charged with first degree murder for the death of 3-year-old Rylo Yancy.

At the time of the indictment, Hollins was already in jail on unrelated weapons charges.

Prior to that, he’s had aggravated assault and motor vehicle theft charges on his record.

Last July, little Rylo was attending a birthday party at Riverland Park in Fort Lauderdale when police said he was hit by a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting.

Rylo was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center where he died, leaving behind many devastated family members.

Fort Lauderdale police have recovered two cars in the shooting, but they believe there are more suspects involved and are working to make sure they are held accountable and caught soon.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
