Ahmed didn’t know that Margate detectives were listening to their conversation and recording the phone call, as she confronted him about his crimes, according to a police report.

“He said multiple times he was very sorry for what he did and he did not know what caused him to do that ... stated he lost faith through Islam and that he would never do that again,” Ahmed said, according to a detective’s report.

Records show Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Ahmed, 29, on Tuesday. He appeared in court on Wednesday and a judge denied him bond.

Ahmed recorded a video of her while he stalked her without her knowledge, told her about it while holding her against her will on July 19, and threatened to share it on Instagram, according to the police report.

The woman reported Ahmed was also apologetic as she feared that he was going to rape and kill her while he held her in a room, according to the report.

The victim said that before letting her go Ahmed “sat next to her ”to tell her that he was sorry for what he did ... how much stress he was going through and that he was taking it out on her,” according to the report.

Records show the recorded phone call with police was on Aug. 16, after both the Margate Police Department and Pasco County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the case. A Broward County judge issued a warrant for his arrest on Oct. 24.

Ahmed, who lives in Zephyrhills, was at the Broward main jail facing charges of extortion involving the use of threats, a second-degree felony; and false imprisonment of an adult, a third-degree felony.

Broward County Circuit Judge Ernest Kollra was set to preside over the case.
