DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A Dania Beach attorney who court records show has represented multiple criminal defendants in Broward County is now a criminal defendant himself for what deputies said he did in a Dollar Tree parking lot.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Anthony Elia Tabasso, a licensed Florida lawyer since 2002, on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Thursday.

A man told deputies that Tabasso, 62, nearly hit him and his girlfriend as he was “driving aggressively” in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree at 312 E. Dania Beach Blvd., a BSO arrest report states.
The report states that a verbal argument ensued and as the man and his girlfriend began to walk away, Tabasso got out of his car, went into his truck, took out a stick and chased the man down, hitting him with it “multiple times.”
Deputies said the man struck Tabasso in the head with a glass bottle in self-defense. They said the victim’s account was corroborated by store employees and surveillance video.
He was taken into custody afterward.
As of Friday afternoon, he was being held in the BSO Main Jail on a $1,500 bond, online records show.
