The Miami Police Department said they launched an investigation on Sept. 17, 2024, after approximately 93 images of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) were uploaded to the Kik account of Jonathan Savir Rivas.

They said a search warrant was executed and on-site previews of Rivas’ cellphone revealed the presence of CSAM.

The report states that Rivas, of Miami Gardens, had videos of children as young as 4 years old performing sexual acts and some videos also contained bestiality involving a dog and a 10-12-year-old child.

Detectives said the 15 files in question met the criteria for child sexual abuse material under Florida state statutes.

Miami police said a search warrant was executed at Rivas’ residence, located near the 800 block of Northeast 69th Street.

During the search, detectives said they seized Rivas’ cellphone, and he was read his constitutional rights. Rivas agreed to speak to authorities without an attorney present, the report stated.

Investigators said a personal records check revealed that Rivas was previously arrested for knowingly “distributing a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.”

According to the Miami Herald, Rivas, who was a former summer camp and after-school care employee at Miami Country Day School, had pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge on May 2, 2017.

Police said he was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison in that case but was released early due to good behavior. Rivas is currently serving 15 years of probation and is a registered sex offender.

“He was a quiet person that worked the night shift and always said good morning,” said one of Perez’s neighbors when speaking to Local 10′s Jeff Weinsier.

As of Friday, he was being held on a $37,500 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Rivas’ arrest report identifies him as a security guard but does not specify his employer.
