Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home near the 8800 block of Northwest 23rd Avenue in West Little River, where they confirmed that a man was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

They said the man was later pronounced dead at the scene by Miami Fire Rescue.

Sky 10 flew over the home just before 12:30 p.m., where crime scene tape surrounded the area and a body was covered with a yellow tarp by detectives.

A man who knew the victim said he was shocked to hear what happened.

“Now I’m getting phone calls that a person laying next to my shed dead,” he said. “I’m coming to find out what’s going on.”

He added that the victim was homeless, but he had allowed him to stay there.

“He was homeless, but I let him stay there to clean up and stuff like that to give him a resting area.”

Investigators later learned that another man arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. Homicide detectives plan to interview him to determine if the shootings are related.

No further details about the victims or possible suspect in each case were immediately released.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
