FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Friday was a special day for one of our Local 10 News photographers. He and his family officially welcomed a new member.
Brian Ely, with his family, adopted their foster child, Kannon, whom they’ve had for more than two years.
The process is now officially complete after several months. The paperwork was signed in court in front of a Broward County judge.
Our cameras captured the children full of excitement, singing in and outside of the courtroom.
“Their goal was to have four children,” Kannon’s great-grandmother said. “They achieved that today.”
Brian and his family have been a foster family for the Jewish Adoption and Family Care Agency, or JAFCO, for around four years.
The group is a nonprofit aimed at providing services to at-risk children and families, like foster care, adoption, and mentoring.
