The horrifying scene happened earlier this month at the intersection of Atlantic and Pompano Beach Boulevards.

6 p.m. report:

Police eventually tracked down the hit-and-run driver, 37-year-old Ashley Bowman.

A couple, 74-year-old Patrizia Marciante and her husband, 76-year-old Sal Marciante, were on the crosswalk with their daughter and granddaughter, who were not hurt.

After the driver kept going, a crowd of good Samaritans ran to render aid.

The couple was rushed to a nearby hospital, but Patrizia sadly passed away.

Her husband of 46 years survived.

Not only do detectives believe Bowman was drunk behind the wheel, but prosecutors reportedly say she was driving with a suspended license and has a history of DUI offenses.
