AVENTURA, Fla. – The South Florida owner of a Tesla is discussing a recent incident in which his vehicle was vandalized.
Last weekend, surveillance video captured a man smearing gum on the door handle of the victim’s Tesla.
The victim, speaking to Local 10 News, said he believes his vehicle was targeted.
“Absolutely, without a doubt,” said the victim, who asked not to be identified. “There was no personal interaction.”
It happened inside the Macy’s parking garage at Aventura Mall.
Police investigators obtained the surveillance video and are working to identify the suspect.
“Unfortunately, a divide in our country, where certain views that are not accepted by a subset,” said the victim. “The sentiment is the same. You hate me for no reason at all. I own a Tesla, great. Maybe I’m in line with you.”
