Massive news expansion coming to WPLG-TV

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. ā€“ A massive news expansion will be coming to Local 10 News this summer.

Beginning Aug. 4, 2025, WPLG-TV, a Berkshire Hathaway owned television station, will go from producing 56 hours of live news and sports programming to a massive 93 hours each week, making Local 10 South Floridaā€™s undisputed dominant news provider.

Local 10 News will air Monday through Friday, from 4:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; noon to 1 p.m.; 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

On weekends, Local 10 News will air from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.; 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the station will air a combination of news and sports from 9 p.m. to midnight.

While networks and stations across the country are reducing staff through layoffs, WPLG is hiring.

ā€œWe have posted dozens of positions and thereā€™s more to come,ā€ said WPLG President and CEO E.R. Bert Medina. ā€œWPLG is the legacy broadcaster in South Florida and we will continue to be the premiere local station in this market as we build the local broadcast model for the 21st century.ā€

ā€œIn addition to the news expansion, we will create other live, local content throughout the year. Today we are announcing phase one of our expansion. There is much more to come,ā€ Medina added.
