Miami-Dade firefighter arrested for injuring senior during parking dispute, records show

A 23-year-old firefighter was off duty when he allegedly injured a 70-year-old man during a parking dispute in Miami-Dade County, deputies said.

Records show Fernando Herrera, a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue employee since 2023, was facing a felony charge of aggravated battery upon a person 65 years of age or older.

Miami-Dade deputies arrested Herrera on Wednesday and he bonded out on Thursday after the victim reported the attack near Southwest 125 Place and 147 Terrace.

After the senior asked Herrera to use a guest parking spot, Herrera allegedly pushed the man who fell and suffered back injuries, deputies said.

Dade County Circuit Judge Carmen Cabarga was set to preside over the case. His bond was $5,000 and a judge ordered him to stay away from the victim.

Court records show Fernandezā€™s arraignment hearing is at 9 a.m., on April 4.
