FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A New York City man is facing a felony charge in South Florida after deputies said he committed an act of video voyeurism in an airline lounge bathroom.
According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the incident happened on Tuesday in the Delta Sky Club at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The report states that the victim, using a stall, noticed a pair of distinct black loafers — with one foot tapping — facing the door. Deputies said he then saw a cellphone camera under the door.
The victim said that the man, later identified as Dawson Hiegert, 24, of Rego Park, Queens, “must have seen him looking at the phone” because he “immediately fled the bathroom,” BSO Detective Justin Panza wrote.
Authorities said the victim identified Hiegert by his shoes and “confronted” him outside of the bathroom and contacted BSO.
Deputies said Hiegert “denied taking a picture of the victim,” but the report contains an alleged confession.
Records show Hiegert, facing a charge of digital voyeurism, was held in the BSO Main Jail on a $7,500 bond.
Per his bond agreement, Hiegert can have no contact with the victim and can only use his cell phone, or any device with recording capabilities, for work purposes.
He had nothing to say after bonding out of jail on Thursday evening.
