According to Pembroke Pines police, “the texts were initially related to a romantic relationship that involved one of the victims and one of the suspects.”
Police said multiple texts were sent, threatening to kill the two victims and a photo of a gun was also shared in the chat.
“After the direct threat was made, one of the victims contacted 911 and reported it to the FortifyFL app,” PPPD said in a news release.
According to the news release, the victims both attend Franklin Academy, but no threats were made to the campus and none of the suspects attend the school.
Regardless, due to the nature of the threat, the school’s administrators were notified about the police department’s ongoing investigation after the threats were reported Sunday.
Police did not publicly identify the male suspects or release their ages, but confirmed that they live in Lake Worth, West Palm Beach and Coconut Creek.
Authorities said all three suspects surrendered themselves to the Pembroke Pines Police Department and were booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center on a felony charge of written threats to kill.
