According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Gabriel Martinez, who was arrested last Friday, was seen on video abusing his roommate’s dog, Gypsy.

Deputies said the victim returned home from work to find Gypsy, a 4-year-old pit bull, lying on the ground, whimpering and bleeding.

Authorities said an investigation revealed Martinez had beaten Gypsy with a metal trailer hitch and ball.

Video evidence showed the assault happened for a total of four minutes and 18 seconds, deputies said.

Deputies said Gypsy was left with several severe injuries that included a broken paw and multiple limb fractures, bone contusions, and abdominal bruising. She may lose one of her limbs as a result of the injuries, authorities said.

For now, she is recovering and recuperating at home, according to PBSO.

Martinez is facing charges of aggravated animal cruelty.
