LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies were searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting an 81-year-old woman.
According to Gerdy St. Louis, a BSO spokeswoman, the attack was shortly before 4:30 a.m., on Friday, near Northwest 50 Avenue and 34 Street, in Lauderdale Lakes.
“When deputies arrived on scene they met with the victim who stated that an unknown subject threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her,” St. Louis wrote.
Witnesses heard the victim yelling for help and two followed the sound to investigate.
“The individuals told detectives when they arrived at the location, they observed the unknown male on top of the victim,” St. Louis wrote. “Detectives say the subject then fled the area.”
Detectives released images of a suspect who appeared to be homeless and they asked the public for help with identifying and finding him.
