MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed Monday morning.
According to MDSO, the shooting happened in the area of 2722 NW 30th St. while three victims were standing outside a food truck.
“(The) initial investigation revealed that the subject approached the victims at a local establishment of a food truck, had an altercation of words (and) the subject brandished a firearm and shot at the victims,” Detective Joseph Peguero said.
Authorities later confirmed that the initial dispute involved the shooter and one of the victims.
Deputies said the altercation escalated, however, and the subject pulled out a gun and shot at the three victims before fleeing in an unknown direction.
According to Peguero, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a man was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he also died.
Peguero said the third victim was not injured in the shooting.
It’s unclear what led up to the initial argument.
Residents in the area said this isn’t the first time a shooting has occurred in their neighborhood.
“Again? Another one? It hurt me -- this is right down the street from where I live,” Lester Pearson told Local 10 News.
“You know, everybody want to grab a gun -- you look at them funny, they want to grab a gun!” Pearson added. “And what’s really making it really bad, it used to be basically men, but now it’s women. Who could point a gun at a woman and pull the trigger?”
