“I was in charge of all the Trump rallies from 2016 to 2022, from Boca all the way to Jupiter,” said Guardiola. “I think he is one of the smartest people around, I know him personally, he is way ahead of the game. This is a long term thing and it is not going to be short term. We are probably going to see some of the prices going up, but what we lived through for Biden for four years, the inflation was through the roof.”

“I think that the changes right now maybe be temporary, the impact is temporary,” said Trump voter Oscar Villar. “What we have experienced for the last four years has been not really beneficial for the future, with these changes now hopefully the future will be better.”

They acknowledge the recent economic jolt of Trumps tariffs.

“Yeah, there is people from my church that I have speak to that are 68, 70, 75 years old and they are a little worried, but they have faith and I keep telling them, just be patient, have faith, in the long run everything will work out,” said Guardiola. “There are some people that want to retire right now and they don’t know what they market is going to do, but again, I believe in Trump.”

Added Trump voter Brenda Knowles: “I have some brothers who are close to retirement, one is very worried, the other is not worried at all.”

This despite some economists saying the Tariffs could raise prices and push the country toward recession.

Trump voter Chris Montesdeoca put it this way:

“I think the United States has been a little sick and it is going to take some medicine to get us better and maybe a little detox period. In the beginning it will be a little painful and later on it should get better.”

Monday’s Rasmussen poll shows 48% of likely U.S. voters approve of the president’s job performance.

“You are going to see in the long term, six months from now, eight months from now, a year from now we are going to be laughing,” said Guardiola. “Like the old phrase goes, Trump was always right.”

Back in the 30’s, when republicans used a tariff strategy, it resulted in a deepening of the great recession.

The U.S. Senate has described the passage of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act in 1930 as one of “the most catastrophic acts in congressional history.”

“I am not really concerned about history repeating itself,” said Trump voter Katherine Villar. “I think lesson learned have taken place, and we are going to approach things in a somewhat different way and it is only a couple days into the tariffs so they can certainly adjust things if they need to.”
