Prosecutors said Onil Compres Rodriguez, 21, was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport on May 2, 2024 ― the night of the prom. He had just flown in from Miami.

According to the DOJ, “on April 30, 2024, he sent a series of direct messages to social media accounts, including accounts belonging to schools in New Jersey.”

The messages included statements like “I will kill everyone,” “they should never have hurt me” and “Wear your bulletproof vests there will be a lot of blood hahaha,” authorities said.

“Compres Rodriguez sent two photographs with the messages: one of an invitation to a New Jersey high school prom on May 2, 2024, the other of three firearms and ammunition,” the news release states.

Officials did not disclose the name of the school.

Authorities said Compres Rodriguez faces up to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to transmitting threats through interstate communications.

He’s set to be sentenced in Miami federal court on June 25.
