Randy Villalpando claimed the prize from the 500X The Cash Scratch-Off game at the Lottery’s Miami District Office. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000, Lottery officials confirmed in a news release Thursday.

They said Villalpando purchased the $50 winning ticket at El Palacio Supermarket, located at 995 Southwest Fifth Street in Miami. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The 500X THE CASH game features a top prize of $25 million — the largest ever offered on a Florida Scratch-Off ticket — and overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.23,“ the Lottery wrote in a news release. ”The game includes more than $1.66 billion in total cash prizes."

According to the Florida Lottery, Scratch-Off games account for approximately 74% of ticket sales during the 2023–2024 fiscal year. Since their inception, Scratch-Offs have generated more than $19.8 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, awarded over $65.5 billion in prizes, and created 2,283 millionaires.
