Oakland Park animal rescue hopes to find ‘furever’ homes for pets of all sizes

Stella, a black and white mixed-breed dog, greeted Local 10’s Animal Advocate Jacey Birch with kisses during a recent visit to Animal Aid, a non-profit rescue based in Oakland Park.

But behind her sweet demeanor lies a bigger challenge — Stella is a large dog, and breed and size restrictions in many South Florida condominiums often stand in the way of her finding a forever home.

Stella isn’t the only dog waiting. Daisy, a 3-month-old schnauzer mix puppy, also needs a loving home where she can grow up and thrive.

Animal Aid, located at 571 NE 44th St., is a 501(c)(3) rescue organization that encourages the community to adopt, foster, or support local efforts to reduce pet homelessness.
