FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – A man died and another was injured during a shooting on Friday night, near the Pineland Preserve, in Florida City.
According to Sgt. David Hunsberger, a spokesman for the Florida City Police Department, police officers found the two victims inside a vehicle in the area of Southwest Seventh Terrace and Sixth Avenue.
According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida City police officers asked M-DCSO homicide detectives to respond to the crime scene.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel reported using a helicopter to fly the victim injured as a trauma alert to Jackson South.
There have been other shootings in the area this year.
In January, 13-year-old Johvan Taylor died after a shooting nearby at Northwest 13 Street and Sixth Avenue.
In March, a 90-year-old man was shot in the same neighborhood while he was home doing a crossword puzzle in bed.
