According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was involved in a shooting Wednesday near the 1900 block of Northeast Second Street in Deerfield Beach.

Authorities said a woman was killed in the shooting.

The woman was inside a restaurant in the area with a firearm, and eventually was met by responding deputies who engaged the woman, authorities said.

It’s unclear if the woman fired any shots, but authorities said at least three deputies where at the scene when the shooting occurred.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

One deputy was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but it’s unclear how that deputy was injured or the extent of his or her injuries.

“We’ll have to look at every single aspect from the camera system that are in the restaurants, our body-worn cameras and any type of other witness statements or evidence that can help -- that can, you know, help solidify the facts behind the case,” Sheriff Gregory Tony said.

The shooting will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
