Mom to Mom: South Florida summer camps in Miami-Dade, Broward County

Summer is right around the corner and as the kids finish up the school year, summer camps are getting ready to welcome them across South Florida.

Here’s a list of summer camps still accepting new enrollments:

Miami-Dade County:

Running from June through August, these camps offer a chance to enjoy the outdoors, make new friends and create lasting memories. The county offers nature, sports, specialized and outdoor adventure camps.

  • Miami-Dade College, Kids & Teens Summer Camp

These camps are offered at several Miami-Dade College campuses including Hialeah, Homestead, Kendall, Medical, North, Padron, West and Wolfson.

  • Deering Estate camp

Deering Estate Visitor Center

16701 SW 72nd Avenue, Palmetto Bay FL 33157

Nature and science camp offered for nine weeks this summer. According to the camp’s website, each week activities will include science experiments, hikes, and crafts. Campers will spend at least half of each day outdoors weather permitting. and each week will have one off site field trip for everyone with locations varying week to week.

  • FunCamps

FunCamps offers a fine art program from campers ages 5-12 at the University of Miami with sessions beginning June 9 and running through Aug. 1.

The camp also offers a science camp, Jurassicamp, Magicamp, Space and Rocket Camp, Gametech Institute and Gametech Robotics camp at the University of Miami, Pinecrest Community Center and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

  • YMCA Summer Camp

The YMCA will host a free summer camp at its Miami Gardens, Overtown and South Miami Heights locations from June 9 - Aug. 1, 2025.

According to YMCA’s website, the camp is for children in k-5th grade and will include educational activities including field trips, sports, nutrition, financial literacy, arts & crafts and STEAM activities. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

  • Zoo Miami Camp

Zoo Miami will offer summer camp with different themes each week including activities for kids to learn about fossils, weather, animal athletes and careers with wildlife. Camp will begin June 6 and will run through Aug. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free aftercare is included until 5:30 p.m.

Broward County:

  • Boys and Girls Club

The Boys and Girls Club offers programs in Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderhill, West Park and North Lauderdale. The camps are for children ages 6-18, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and begin on June 10, 2025.

  • Camp Chameleon

Camp Chameleon at Markham Park in Weston offers nature, athletic, aquatics and creative summer camp for boys and girls ages 6-15, Monday-Friday 8:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with extended hours available - 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. & 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. from June 9- Aug.8.

  • Camp Kadima at the David Posnack JCC

Camp Kadima in Davie will offer camp for children June 9 - Aug. 1. Activities can include karate, science, cooking, dance and splash pad.

  • City of Pembroke Pines Summer Camp

The City of Pembroke Pines Early Development Center (EDC) Central Campus offers children K through 4th grade activities which include arts and crafts, gym, on-site swimming, sports and field trips. Camp will from June 9- Aug. 1, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts will hold a camp at three locations within Broward County for children ages 7-18.
