SWEETWATER, Fla. – A man used a pen with a hidden camera and placed it facing the toilet seat area to record The Cosmetics Company Store employees in Dolphin Mall, police said.
Police officers reported watching a video showing Bernardo Pellicer, who was born in Cuba and lives in Kendall, “meticulously looking for spots in the cleaning supply cart where he could place the pen.”
Police officers reported another video shows a victim who worked with Pellicer finding the pen while using the toilet and saying, “What the [expletive] is this?”
Before police officers arrived, Pellicer tried to take the pen away from the victim -- “touching her against her will,” according to police.
According to the arrest report, Pellicer admitted the pen was his, but claimed that it had “fallen off” his blazer after he was trying to catch the colleagues he believed were gossiping about him so he could lose his job.
Pellicer said he didn’t feel well, so fire rescue personnel took him to HCA Kendall Hospital where Sweetwater police officers later arrested him, records show.
Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies booked Pellicer on Sunday night at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
The videos showed there were two victims, according to police, so Pellicer faced two counts of video voyeurism and one count of battery, records show.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
