John William Morici was taken into custody Thursday and is facing two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, according to jail records obtained by Local 10 News on Friday.

The charges stem from an encounter on April 29 near the 300 block of Terminal Drive.

Investigators said a woman was trying to exit the airport after picking up her daughter when another driver became aggressive.

“According to the victim, while attempting to exit the airport, she turned on her left blinker and tried to change lanes,” BSO spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis said in a statement sent to Local 10 News last week. “The victim stated that once her blinker was on, an unknown subject in a black Dodge Durango sped up beside her and refused to allow her to switch lanes.”

The woman told deputies she managed to get behind the Durango after slowing down, but the driver brake-checked her, forcing her to change lanes again.

Once she passed the Durango, deputies said her daughter recorded the incident with a cellphone, which captured the driver pointing a black handgun at them.

The video, released by BSO on May 8, shows the driver concealing the weapon and fleeing toward U.S. 1 South after noticing the cellphone.

As of Friday, Morici was being held on a $30,000 bond at the Broward Main Jail.

A judge ruled that if Morici posts bond, he must have no contact with the victim, must not possess any guns, weapons or ammunition, and may not drive except for work purposes.
