Four of the suspects were identified as Samuel Rosemond, 22; Antonio Carbonell, 38; Allen Hunt, 29; and Micheal Trillo, 22.

Each has been charged with second-degree murder, along with multiple counts of burglary of an unoccupied structure, grand theft and traveling to commit a burglary.

A fifth suspect was identified as Edwin Norris, 31, who is charged with murder, hit-and-run and 20 counts of traveling to commit a burglary.

According to deputies, the group traveled from Miami to Sarasota in April 2023 with the intent to steal catalytic converters from work vehicles that were parked at All Glass and Windows (AGW) and Arrow Environmental Services.

The 22 catalytic converters that were stolen have an estimated value of $94,000, authorities said.

According to the SCSO news release, deputies responded to an in-progress burglary call at AGW.

“As deputies were enroute, the suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored Audi, running a red light and colliding with a motorcycle driven by 21-year-old Leonardo Adams,” the news release stated. “The vehicle fled the crash without stopping or rendering aid, and was later discovered abandoned on the shoulder of I-75 near Fruitville Rd.”

Adams died as a result of the crash.

Deputies said it was discovered that Norris was behind the wheel of the Audi at the time of the crash, with Hunt, Trillo and Rosemond as passengers.

Deputies said Carbonell was driving a separate vehicle.

As of Tuesday, Carbonell, Norris and Rosemond were being held in the Sarasota County Correctional Facility without bond.

Hunt is currently awaiting extradition to Sarasota from Miami.

“Trillo is currently in the custody of the Miami-Dade County Jail facing a charge of Attempted Murder for a 2023 case,” the news release stated. “Once that case is resolved he will be extradited to Sarasota to face charges here.”
