DORAL, Fla. – Newly obtained video shows the massive police response to a shooting that occurred last year at Martini Bar in Doral.
It happened just after 3:30 a.m. on April 6, 2024.
Video shows officers rushing into the chaos and quickly neutralizing the threat, but one of their own would be hit by gunfire.
Police say they responded to reports of shots fired and found that Jamal Wayne Wood began firing after an argument that occurred just before the bar was closing. He would die at the scene after being shot by officers.
A total of nine people were shot that night, including George Alejandro Castellanos, who was working as a security guard at the bar. Officials said he was shot and killed by Wood.
In the aftermath, the video shows the furniture at the bar all tossed around.
In a close-out memo, the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office said the officers were justified in their use of force while responding to the shooting.
Two officers are suing the owner of Martini Bar Doral and a private security company. The suit claims there was a “responsibility to protect individuals by thoroughly searching patrons for weapons before allowing entry.”
