The incident happened just after noon inside a hangar as a towing company was attempting to lift the aircraft.

One of the plane’s wings came down on the worker, who was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman Frank Guzman.

Guzman did not release the worker’s age or identity but did confirm that he did not lose consciousness

The same weather system moved through Pembroke Pines later that evening, damaging a small plane at North Perry Airport and bringing down trees and power lines.

Pembroke Pines police said the storm affected the area near Palm Avenue and Northwest 72nd Avenue and described it as a possible “small tornado.” However, meteorologists from the Local 10 Weather Authority said no tornado was confirmed.

In neighboring Miramar, police reported downed power lines and storm-related damage in the 2700 block of Sunshine Boulevard. Crews closed the road to clean up debris. No injuries were reported in that incident.

No additional injuries have been reported in connection with Friday’s storm.
