MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Surveillance video obtained Tuesday by Local 10 News shows a man, who police identified as Aliomar Acosta-Perez, stabbing his ex-partner in Miami Beach.
The crime occurred the afternoon of April 24 in the 900 block of Normandy Drive.
According to Miami Beach police, officers were flagged down around 2:45 p.m. that day by a witness who told them that a woman had been stabbed nearby.
Surveillance video shows the victim being attacked on a sidewalk as multiple people rush over to help her.
Police said the victim was hospitalized with a four-inch laceration on the right side of her neck and remained intubated earlier this month after undergoing surgery. Her current condition has not been released.
Authorities said surveillance video from OhhScooters at 960 Normandy Drive showed Acosta-Perez, 49, of Las Vegas, wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and red shoes while standing at a bus stop.
Moments later, police said he was seen lunging at the victim with a sharp object, and began to “make multiple stabbing motions toward her.”
Authorities said the victim tried to run, but was pushed to the ground and stabbed again.
Bystanders intervened shortly after, pulling Acosta-Perez off the victim and striking him, the report stated.
Investigators said Acosta-Perez then fled east in the direction of Sabor Tropical Supermarket.
Detectives said they linked a black 2022 Toyota Corolla that was seen leaving the area to Acosta-Perez through a rental agreement he had.
They said he had used a Nevada driver’s license to rent the vehicle.
During the investigation, the suspect and victim’s son told police that his mother called him after the stabbing, saying, “Go home and take care of your sister. Your dad just cut me,” according to the report.
The victim’s son identified Acosta-Perez from a photograph and disclosed prior domestic violence between his parents when they both were living in Nevada, according to investigators.
Authorities said the victim had moved to Miami Beach with her children to get away from Acosta-Perez after a previous altercation.
They said he was taken into custody May 9 and was considered a flight risk.
Jail records show Acosta-Perez is facing one count of premeditated attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
As of Tuesday, he remains at the Metrowest Detention Center on an immigration hold.
