MIAMI – A swatting call prompted lockdowns at multiple schools in Coconut Grove Wednesday morning, Miami police confirmed.

“Swatting” is the action of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to dispatch a large number of police officers to a particular location.
According to authorities, they received a report at 10:48 a.m. about a possible shooting at Ransom Everglades High School, located at 3575 Main Hwy.
Police responded to the campus and searched it, but found no evidence of a threat.
Police said nearby schools were also placed on lockdown as a precaution during the investigation.
No other details were immediately released.
