FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A father of four has died days after a boat explosion in Fort Lauderdale.
Joshua Fifi was one of nearly a dozen people rushed to the hospital after the Memorial Day boat blast.
According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the boat was traveling in the Intracoastal Waterway near Southeast 10th Street when the explosion occurred.
Both agencies have been collecting and examining evidence to determine the cause of the explosion.
Ten others were injured in the explosion, including two children who were in critical condition at last check.
Hospital officials confirmed last week that two adults were also in critical condition, four were in serious condition and two were in good condition.
According to the FWC, the explosion occurred around 6 p.m. on May 26.
FWC officials said 15 people were onboard the 39-foot Sea Ray when the explosion occurred. Fire officials said fuel vapors likely caused a flash fire on the boat.
