It happened near the 2600 block of Northwest 43rd Terrace.

Upon arrival, Lauderhill police said they “observed two juveniles suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the apartment complex.”

Police said the victims, ages 17 and 16, were transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where both remain in stable condition.

Family members of 16-year-old Shiraji Reid gathered outside the hospital Wednesday night, saying he was on a ventilator after a bullet struck his leg and damaged his femoral artery.

Thursday noon report:

They identified the 17-year-old as Marvin Travis, describing the two shooting victims as best friends.

“We need a change, the streets are too bad,” said Barbara Brown, Reid’s grandmother. “These children need to go to church.”

“I know that God is going to do what he say he gonna do,” she told Local 10’s Roy Ramos on Thursday. “We got a prayer family. My grandson coming up out of there. I have no doubts, I have faith.”

Both teenagers remained at BHMC Thursday afternoon as family continued to pray for their recovery.

“It’s OK to walk away from a fight,” said a woman in a prayer circle.

Sky 10 flew over the scene around 4:30 p.m., where authorities blocked off nearby streets and taped off the area as part of the ongoing investigation.

Wednesday 11 p.m. report:

Video provided by a nearby resident showed the chaotic aftermath showed one juvenile receiving CPR and another one off in the distance after being shot.

In another clip, the resident described the emotional scene as family members tried to reach the victims and police applied pressured to stop the victim from bleeding.

“The police was trying to hold them and trying to keep the crowd from going to the victim, whoever it was,” said Rodlyn Richards, who lives nearby.

Police said a motive for the shooting remains unknown and there are no known suspects, nor have any arrests been made.
