According to jail records obtained by Local 10 News on Friday, Fernando Bernabe Rodriguez, 28, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on Thursday and is being held on a U.S. Marshals Service detainer.

Rodriguez is accused of working with Wilfredo Rivero, 31, who was arrested in late May and faces one count of mail theft.

Prosecutors say the pair were caught on surveillance video using crowbars to pry open mailboxes at an apartment complex, located at 9010 Sunrise Lakes Blvd., on April 26 and 28.

The video, which showed one suspect stuffing mail into his shirt and pants, was widely circulated in early May and led to several tips from the public.

According to an arrest report, Rivero later confirmed to an informant that he was one of the men seen in the footage.

Rodriguez was named as a co-defendant in a federal indictment filed on Thursday.

As of Saturday, he is being held without bond pending trial.

Meanwhile, Rivero, who lives about a mile from the crime scene, was released on a $75,000 bond and a judge ruled that he must wear a GPS and surrender his passport.
