According to Doral police, 27-year-old Lawrence Young, who’s ID said he was from Fayetteville, Georgia, was taken into custody after a series of burglaries.

It was last Thursday when officers responded to the Doral Landing East community, located along the 5000 block of Northwest 113th Place in regard to “multiple occupied residential and vehicle burglaries, to include a stolen vehicle,” according to an arrest form.

Police said that upon arrival, they spoke with several residents of a home.

According to the arrest report, Young broke into the garage and gained access to the inside of the home, where he stole several items, including a television, a computer and multiple credit cards before grabbing the keys to a 2023 Kia Sportage and taking off with it.

Surveillance video in the area also showed Young, wearing a ski mask, walking through the neighborhood and attempting to open vehicles outside several homes, then taking things from them when gaining access, police said.

Additionally, the victims from the home that was burglarized also alerted deputies to multiple fraudulent charges made on the stolen credit cards, totaling over $1,000, with video evidence showing Young as the person who conducted the transactions, according to the arrest form.

Investigators were able track the path of the suspect and stolen vehicle using traffic cameras and ultimately located it in a hotel parking lot along Northwest 27th Street, authorities said.

Police said surveillance video from the hotel showed Young unloading the stolen items and walking to a shopping center, where additional footage showed him get into another vehicle.

Investigators determined that the second vehicle was an Uber, and after a traffic stop on that vehicle, the driver led police to where he dropped off Young and the stolen items, police said.

According to the arrest report, the following day, detectives with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement surveilled that location and waited for Young to come out, arresting him once he did.

He was found with five credit cards belonging to the victims at the time of his arrest, investigators said.

Young was arrested on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft, burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, fraudulent possession of personal identification and fraudulent use of a credit card.

He was granted a total bond of $80,500, but as of Monday morning, remained behind bars at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
