Deputies release images of suspect in unsolved murder in Broward

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Broward County Sheriff’s Office detectives released a surveillance video Tuesday saying it shows a suspect in the murder late last year of a 30-year-old felon.

The video shows the murder suspect alone, lighting up a cigarette outside of a car, on Dec. 1, near the 300 block of Avondale Drive, according to BSO deputies.

Roderick “Lil Duke” Henry was an inmate in a Florida Department of Corrections work release facility in Pompano Beach, according to BSO deputies.

Henry was outside the building “speaking to an individual” when a gunman -- “who was waiting” -- walked up to him and fired shortly before midnight, on Dec. 1, near a fence along Avondale Drive, according to deputies.

According to FDOC records, Henry’s 11 convictions in Palm Beach County were related to arrests in 2015, 2018, and 2019. Seven were related to drugs, two to weapons, fleeing a law enforcement officer, and racketeering.

In June 2015, when Henry was 20, the Palm Beach Post reported the West Palm Beach police had identified him as a member of the Firehouse gang in Riviera Beach.

Records show Henry was in prison from Sept. 28, 2015, to Dec. 26, 2017, he returned to prison on Feb. 20, 2019, and he was in custody until Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel pronounced him dead.

Detective Allison Craven-Swan asked anyone with information about the case to call 954-321-4384. There is a $10,000 reward for information resulting in an arrest and prosecution.
