MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Charges have been dropped against Cuban-American telenovela actor Pedro Moreno after his wife and daughter declined to cooperate with prosecutors following his arrest in a domestic dispute that occurred last month, according to a closeout memo obtained by Local 10 News on Friday.

Authorities said Moreno, 44, was arrested on May 15 in southwest Miami-Dade on a charge of strong-armed robbery after a late-night argument with his wife, Barbara Moreno, at the family’s home near the 3800 block of Southwest 150th Court.
According to an arrest report, the couple — who are in the process of divorcing — got into an argument around 11:20 p.m. after Pedro Moreno asked to use his wife’s cellphone.
When he began searching through it and refused to return it, deputies said a struggle broke out and he forcibly took the phone from her hands.
The couple’s oldest daughter, Alexandra, witnessed the incident and handed her mother another phone to call police, investigators said. Authorities said no injuries were reported, and the phone — valued at about $250 — was later returned.
But in a pre-file conference with prosecutors on May 30, Barbara Moreno said she did not want to pursue charges and declined to confirm the details in the arrest report.
She told the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office that she wasn’t afraid of her husband and just wanted to move on from the relationship, according to the memo.
A week later, the couple’s daughter also declined to provide a statement during her scheduled appointment via Zoom, telling prosecutors “it was all a blur” and that she “could not recall the details of what happened,” the memo stated.
With no cooperation from the victim or witness and no visible injuries reported, the M-DSAO said it could not meet its “burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt” and declined to file formal charges.
Moreno, who was born in Havana, is known for his roles in telenovelas such as El Rostro de Analía, Una familia con suerte, and Me declaro culpable. He has built a devoted following among Hispanic audiences through his work on Spanish-language television in both Mexico and the United States.
