MIAMI – An argument between two drunken men devolved into a fatal shooting when police officers interfered in Miami’s Wynwood, witnesses said.
A witness heard four gunshots before a man collapsed and there was a rush to try to save his life early Saturday morning.
Tony Aguilera, a witness, said chaos followed in the area as people were leaving nightclubs at about 3 a.m., near Northwest 23rd Street and First Court.
“It was just people trying to get out of here as quick as possible,” Aguilera said. “Nobody knew exactly what was going on, we just heard the gunshots.”
Two others were shot: A man and Evelyn Valdes, an innocent bystander who had celebrated her 28th birthday Wednesday.
The gunman also died and another man was injured, police said. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was investigating the police shooting.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
