Publix officially opened its newest store Thursday morning at 2895 N. Ocean Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, launching its new beach location with an early-morning ribbon cutting, smiles from employees and free reusable bags for the first 95 people in line — part of the company’s 95th anniversary celebration.

The nearly 30,000-square-foot store includes a scratch bakery, a full-service seafood counter and a deli stocked with international flavors.

A Publix spokesperson said that customers lined up before the 7 a.m. opening, eager to explore what the newest store has to offer in a part of Fort Lauderdale that hasn’t had a Publix in walking distance for some time.

“We are excited to welcome customers to their new Fort Lauderdale Publix,” said Lindsey Willis, Publix media relations manager in a news release on Thursday. “This location offers a unique shopping experience just steps from the beach, and we’re excited to provide our customers with the quality, convenience and service they know and love.”

According to Willis, the layout includes modern features and a wide selection across departments:

  • Bakery: Everything from fresh-baked breads and pies to tiered wedding cakes made by in-house decorators.
  • Deli: Custom sandwiches and a curated selection of artisan meats and cheeses — more than 200 varieties, including aged prosciutto and soppressata.
  • Produce: Organic and local options are prominently displayed, with tropical fruits and floral arrangements rounding out the section.
  • Meat and Seafood: Customers can choose from ready-to-cook options, USDA choice cuts, and daily deliveries of fresh fish — never frozen. Sushi is rolled on site by trained chefs.
  • Wine: The store boasts a broad assortment of domestic and imported wines, including organic bottles and sparkling options.

The store will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with amenities like contactless payment, grocery delivery via Instacart and pharmacy services.
